We have been learning about influential people that have solved conflict in a peaceful way. Today we read a story about Martin Luther King Jr. Our comprehension focus has been cause and effect relationships. Today after we read the story, students got into groups and wrote down all the major events in MLK's life (the cause)... on Monday we will add the effects (what happened because of _____). Everyone did a great job cooperating.
Mrs. Munford found this AWESOME website: http://www.cosmickids.com/category/watch/
We have started doing yoga in the morning during our morning meeting activity time... the kiddos LOVE it! Feel free to check the website out at home :) It is a lot of fun.
We reviewed our literacy skills this week using Kahoot! It was a blast. We start by asking a few silly questions just for practice, then ask different literacy skills. It was a lot of fun!
Today we watched the following book: Howard B. Wigglebottom Learns about Bullies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfYdShEdUTA
We then used clay to recreate a detail from the story. Students then shared what detail they chose to recreate.
Yesterday we played a new game on the Revolves (our touch screen computers in the room)! We played Kahoot, which is a game that allows the students to answer multiple choice questions (but on the Revolves). I was able to group the students 3 to 1 computer and they took turns answering questions. It was a BLAST! Make sure and ask your child about Kahoot! (My phone was not working so I do not have any pictures, but we will be doing another Friday, so I will take pictures then.
Tomorrow we will be taking our Chapter 3 assessment. Today for a review we played Jeopardy! It was a lot of fun, we did not get it all finished so we are going to finish it tomorrow during morning meeting.
For this activity, I put posters on each table, each poster had a different heading: places, toys, days/months, and people. I then broke the class up into groups and they were to write the names of things that fit under the specific heading (and we rotated to each table). Each group had a different colored marker. By the end our posters were full- they are now hanging in our room!
